Many of our supporters have asked about the situation in Liberia, concerning the Covid-19 crisis. Although there are no reported cases in our communities, there have been three cases confirmed in the capital city of Monrovia. We are hopeful that the remote location of our School will help to protect the community from this disease, as was the case during the Ebola crisis. But in the meantime, we are doing what we can to keep people safe. The government has taken the pro-active step of closing all schools in Liberia, and so our School has been closed for over a week. We continue to provide financial support to our staff members, and to date, all staff members remain on campus.
Isaac Monah, our Executive Director, was traveling back to the U.S. last week and was caught up in the chaos of flight cancellations and border closures. He is safe, has tested negative for the virus, but is still quarantined at the present time. School Founder Francis Miller has been keeping in touch with Isaac and will be sending an update on his status later this week. We will be sending periodic updates to you, our supporters during this crisis. In the meantime, please pray for our Dougbe River School family as they move through these troubled times.
